Minibus Trip to BikeLive NEC Birmingham

After being let down by Webbers (they suddenly had no coach or driver available!) two days before the trip, two minibusses were hired instead. The drive up to Birmingham went without any mishaps or any wrong turns from Bobby, which was great as he took a wrong turn last year and ended sightseeing around Brum!

Everyone seemed to enjoy the show with several members getting some good bargains.

Halloween Run to Minehead

What a lovely day the sun shone for us yet again.
A short run to the Harbour Cafe at Minehead, where as usual we were made very welcome by Jane and her staff.
It was so nice to see so many new faces joining us today, and it was nice to have met you all, plus it was nice to catch up with our regular supporters and of course Group members.
May I thank everyone that took part and helped us to raise £169.34p for BARB, the search and rescue hovercraft, Burnham On Sea, which relies on charitable contributions, to keep them going.

Exmouth & Lyme Regis Run

We started from the Bristol Bridge Inn and rode to Hein Gerrick in Taunton to meet up with some more members. After adjusting the chain on Paul's bike we rode on down to Exmouth via some nice twisty A roads. After lunch and a walk around a car boot sale we rode on to Lyme Regis for ice creams on the beach.

Westonzoyland Sprinting

It all started out as a breakfast run to Minehead, but then we heard that there was Motorcycle Sprinting on at Westonzoyland, so a vote was taken and off we set for Westonzoyland instead of Minehead. But as in the true Somerset Motorcycle Group tradition, first stop was breakfast. We stopped at Pawlet for Breakfast then out to Westonzoyland to watch the Sprinting, it was something new for a lot of the members, includeing myself, but it was a fun day out.

Rog & Lyn's Children's Hospice Run

What a day, rain before we left the Bristol Bridge Inn to set off to Sandford for the start of the run. Rain on the way, and after a short spell of dry weather, another deluge, just as we were just getting ready to set off.
When we did eventually set off at about 1pm, the sun put in it's first appearance of the day.
Then apart from some heavy looking storm clouds, the weather stayed good and when we got to Weston Super Mare the sun shone, and it stayed that way for the rest of the day.
It was a pleasure for the group to support Roger & Lynne on thier new event for the Somerset Children's Hospice.
We look forward to helping out and supporting them again next year.

Freewheelers Run from V&Js Bridgwater to Minehead

It was disapointing that none of the Freewheelers could join us but what a great day out, the weather was good to us.
It was nice to see some new faces plus our regular riders.
We were made welcome as we always are by Jane and her staff at the Harbour Cafe in Minehead, we did intend to ride on further from there but with it being such a nice day the general feeling was to stay there and enjoy the company.
We raised £140 on the day.
Well done to you all.

Teddybear Picnic Run to Chew Valley Lake

This was our second year for this, in Aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
We all got our teddy bears out and strapped them to our bikes and took them for a ride up to Chew Valley Picnic area.
We had a drop of rain as we left and again at Churchill, but by the time we got to the picnic area the wind in their fur they soon dried out, and all the time we were at the lake the sun shone for us, and we had a good meal at the cafe.
We left after about an hour and headed up through Burrington Coombe and across the top of the Mendips. but then it happened it waited until we were right in the open and no where to shelter, and the skies opened on us, it was like riding through a lake all the way accross the Mendips until we got to the top of Cheddar Gorge then it cleared up again, typical we had somewhere to shelter then.
So we stopped at the bottom of the Gorge for an Ice Cream before setting off abck to our strting point, the Bristol Bridge Inn.

Run to Lyme Regis

This was our annual Mystery Run in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
It was a great day, no one had a clue where we were going not even the marshals who did a brilliant job.
The destination was a well kept secret by myself.
I thought when we stopped in Beaminster that some would have quessed where we we heading but if they did they didn't admit it.
The sun shone for us, which made the run even more enjoyable.
As per usual we came back a different way than the way we went.

Freewheelers Run from Morses Motorcycles

Thanks to Morses for the bacon butty's and coffee they supplied to each rider for this run.
Thanks to all those that took part on the day.
The run took us up to Bristol, and accross some not particularly well maintained roads, and down over to Clevedon.
The sun shone us again today, and it was nice to go somewhere that is often missed out from visiting.
It was nice to chill out on the seafront overlooking the pier, and it wasn't that busy.

4 Counties Air Ambulance Run to Newquay

This was the day of the 4 counties air ambulance run.
But unfortunately we had rain at the start, when we started from the Bristol Bridge Inn, Highbridge.
By the time we got to V&J's in Bridgwater for the main start of the run we were very wet, but because it was a charity run we decided to carry on regardless of the weather.
We met up with a few more at Taunton Deane Services.
We then rode on to Exeter, but by now we were all soaked, and we were pouring the water out of our gloves.
We all got together and decided that it was time to turn back as the weather was getting worse and there had been accidents on the A30 & A38, and we decided that we didn't want to call the Air Ambulance out to any of us.
We stayed at the services for about an hour, then took a slow ride home.
Thanks British weather.
Unfortunately we haven't been able to fit this ride in again this year but watch our website as we will definately be doing it again next year, and any money we collected will be added onto next years total.
The group does have merchandise for sale for each of the Air Ambulance charities, and if anyone wants anything then please contact me through the contact us page.

Hover Run to Burnham-on-Sea

Thanks to all those that turned up for our Annual Hover Run.
When you look at where we meet and where we finished you might be mistaken for thinking what a boring run, from Highbridge to Burnham On Sea, but we did about 100 miles around the Somerset countryside before we ended up back in Burnham On Sea.

Treasure Hunt

This is our treasure hunt run & the pre season bike warm up run.
It is all for a bit of fun.
I go around about a fortnight before the run and find lots of clues.
Then on the day of the run everyone sets off in small groups in cars or on bikes, they are given lists of clues then it is down to each group to find the clues and bring them back to the Bristol Bridge Inn, Highbridge. Where we check the clues and the winner will receive a hamper for their troubles.
I'm going to have to work harder next year though as most of them found the clues and we had to do a draw to find a winner.
